MBERENGWA – MDC-T president Dr Richard Morgan Tsvangirai will soon hand over a four-roomed house built by the party's Veterans Activists Association (VAA) to the family of a man killed in the 2002 election violence.
Fainos Zhou died in 2000 after he was abducted and tortured by Zanu PF thugs in Mutuzugwi Village in Danga, Mberengwa.
MDC-T provincial spokesperson Munyaradzi Mtandavari confirmed the event in an interview with The Mirror.
"MDC T president together with national and provincial members will this weekend be at the Zhou homestead in Danga Mberengwa to handover a house to Zhou's children in recognition of their father's bravery and sacrifice for the people of Zimbabwe. Zhou's blood will continue to water our spirit of liberty and quest for egalitarianism. He is one of the many victims of the acidic, aridity and rigid totalitarianism from Zanu PF cabal," he said.
A statement by VAA led by MDC Mberengwa North shadow MP, Dr Takavafira Zhou confirmed the same development.
Dr Zhou said Fainos Kufazvinei Zhou was abducted from home in 2000 together with his brother James Zhou by Zanu PF youth militia and force marched to a torture camp at Texas Farm near Mnene Hospital under the control of notorious and rogue war veteran Wilson Kufa  (better known as Big Chitoro).
Their crime was that Fainos Zhou had signed nomination papers for the then MDC-T Mberengwa West prospective parliamentary candidate, Mufandaidza Hove.
They were tortured for three days and released  but Fainos was unable to walk and remained at Mwembe Primary School. He was later taken home where he died from internal injuries. James also later died from the torture.
Zhou's wife who was gang raped by the youth militia during the abduction never recovered from the abuse and death of his husband and died later. The Zhou brothers are survived by their five children who are now living in poverty as no one could look after them and ensure that they continue with their education.
The death of Zhou has resulted in bad blood between Zanu PF and the vast majority of the Lemba clan who largely dominate Danga Mposi, Masarira, Chaza and Mawerewere areas. Zanu PF-led programs have faced resistance over the years due to Zhou's torture history.
