Mberengwa Christian Community in clean-up campaign

MBERENGWA - Mberengwa Christian Community (MCC) held a cleanup campaign at Mberengwa Turnoff on Saturday last week to reduce chances of disease outbreak because of the piling litter and garbage at the bustling business centre.
The place is also a hub of prostitution because of the many mining activities around it. It is also notorious for lack of water and the church members cleaned the dirty toilets as well.
The campaign which was spearheaded by Mberengwa Office churches was also aimed at sensitising the community on the importance of hygiene and cleanliness around the areas they live and work around.
MCC secretary general Albert Hoto said Mberengwa Turn off which is situated at the 27 kilometer peg along Zvishavane-Bulawayo Highway had become an eye-sore because of the huge piles of litter.
The MCC moved with a theme entitled "Church and Community iniative Anti -litter clean up campaign."
"It is the duty of the church to correct all social ills and hygiene is one critical component that we as a church need to reinforce hence we are here so that we become exemplary to the community," he said.
Mberengwa Rural District Council health officer Tsungai Mashavakure applauded the church for coming up with the noble idea of a clean up campaign.
    Chief Maziofa attended the campaign.
