MASVINGO – The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development (Cropping Production) and MP for Masvingo North, Davis Marapira has donated building material worth $4 780 for the construction of a classroom block at Harawe Primary School in Ward 14 under Chief Chikwanda recently
Marapira also thanked Ward 14 Cornelius Gwinji for mobilising the community to support the school.
He donated a motorbike to the councillor worth $1750 and said he was the man to vote for in the 2018 elections.
The donation was made at an event where the school was also officially opening a block constructed through the contribution of the School Development Committee, MP Marapira and Masvingo Rural District Council.
Masvingo Senator Clemence Makwarimba graced the event.
Marapira donated 120 zinc roofing sheets, 22 window frames, 4 door frames and 100 bags of cement which is enough material to build another block with 4 classrooms. Masvingo Rural District Council donated 50 tables and chairs.
Harawe was built in 2004 with pole and daggar structures and it was named Matanda, however the name was changed to Harawe which is the title of the people of the area (VaHarawe) due to structure changes. The school has three blocks that have two classrooms each.
Harawe head Sekai Wilson thanked the MP and the community for the assistance and appealed for more help as the school still has a critical shortage of buildings including toilets. agriculture news
