GWERU – Gweru City Council has started a job evaluation exercise for all its workers to assess their job performances and qualifications, the City mayor, Charles Chikozho has said.
"Yes there is a job evaluation process at council that is going on but it's still a bit premature to discuss it because l am still waiting for a report from the evaluation panel. What l can only tell you at this moment is that they are evaluating every employee's work and qualifications starting from everyone who is below the directors.
"After the evaluation I will get a report with recommendations then l will be able to give you further details," said Chikozho
However The Mirror is told by reliable sources that there are many workers who are being paid without doing any work. For instance the local authority has fitness trainers, soccer coaches, swimming coaches who were supposed to work at various council recreational centers but because almost all the centers are no longer operational, those workers are not doing anything.
"The purpose of this evaluation is to look into all those issues and find a way," said Chikozho.
