ZVISHAVANE – Award winning Zvishavane businessman, Antony Clever Pote whose business empire spans the whole southern region of Zimbabwe has been awarded an honourary doctorate by a French University.
He got the Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from University of Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS).
The University awarded Pote the degree in recognition of his excellent administrative skills and great achievements in the area of business. The award was given on Monday at the University offices in Harare.
ENS is a leading higher education institution in France and is well regarded internationally. It is ranked number 66 on the World University rankings.
The University closely follows events that happen in Zimbabwe.
Pote is one of Zimbabwe's most enterprising businesspersons with an empire spanning many sectors including hospitality, mining, retail, borehole drilling and transport.
He is probably the most decorated businessman in Zimbabwe having won 47 personal awards from various institutions in the 15 years from 2002.
He has retained the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Midlands Businessman of the Year award since 2012. In 2013 and 2015 he was nominated as one of the top 20 Zimbabwean businesspersons. He was awarded the Best Businessman of the Year 2017 by Megafest .
Soft spoke Pote told The Mirror in a telephone interview that he was elated by the latest recognition which is coming from an international University.
"Getting an Honourary Degree from ENS is a telling recognition and l am humbled. This inspires me to achieve more as I am not even half way up the ladder in terms of what I want to achieve. My goal is to build an empire with a household name and an empire that touches every facet of life for the people of the Southern Region," said Pote.
He said that his secret for success is hardwork. He said Zimbabwe was a good country for business because it is still virgin in many areas and it awaits to be explored and exploited.
He said many aspiring businesspersons fail to make it because they always venture into areas where other businesses are already well established and there is immense competetion. He challenged business people to take risks.
He thanked his highly qualified managers for being part and parcel of his successes. business news
