    Sex worker throws newly born granddaughter in blair toilet


    MBERENGWA – A woman believed to be a commercial sex worker has been arrested after she allegedly threw her daughter's newly born baby into a blair toilet.
    The granddaughter who was retrieved soon afterwards died on admission to hospital while her mother is critically ill because of improper delivery.
    Adren Nyoni from Gwamasaka Village under Chief Maziofa who is based at Mberengwa office was arrested on Saturday. The baby she allegedly dumped belonged to her daughter Bridget Jongwe.
    Mberengwa District Medical Supritendant Doctor Gabriel Ndagurwa confirmed the incident. He said members of the public had to destroy the toilet in a bid to save the baby but unfortunately the toddler died on admission at Mberengwa Hospital.
    Jongwe was transferred to Mnene General Hospital.
    Midlands Police spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko was not aware of the case.
    Tsitsi Zhou an eyewitness said she heard a baby crying when she was using the toilet and called other people.
    "It was around 7am when I went into the toilet and heard a baby crying from the pit. People managed to destroy the toilet and took out the baby," she said.
    Police traced blood  drops to the backyard of a shop where they found Jongwe in agony and she implicated her mother.
