    Mapurisa elected Chirumanzu Ward 23 Councillor


    CHIRUMANZU - Virginia Mapurisa (59) is the new councilor for Ward 23 in Chirumanzu.
    She replaces Councillor Simon Mafuva who died on March 3, 2017.
    She was initially elected during Zanu PF primary elections held in three party districts on Saturday 23 April and won by 375 votes against four other contestants.
    She eventually got elected in the local council elections.
    The primary elections were held at Nyautonge, Shashe and Rupehwe schools in Chirumanzu where each of the three districts had several contestants including Mapurisa.
    The MP for Chirumhanzu Constituency Innocent Pedzisai Munanzi confirmed the primary election results to The Mirror.
    He said the elections which were held through secret ballots at district level were conducted by the Provincial leadership.
    "The elections went well and everyone was happy with the process. The Party gave us a good candidate who is going to win in the next elections," said Munanzvi.
