    Money flashing gold panner killed in Gutu


    GUTU – A gold panner at Zoma in Gutu was killed at around 10pm on Sunday night allegedly after spending the whole day drinking and flashing money at Zoma Business Centre.
    Tafadzwa Mutekedza was allegedly hit with a machete by Titus Masaire (39) of Plot 29 Maxwell Farm, Zoma Area in Gutu.
    The murder suspect was identified to the Police by Ruzimos Virimayi who has hearing disability. Virimayi witnessed the murder.
    Masaire appeared in court on Friday last week before resident Magistrate Edwin Marecha who remanded him in custody to April 6 for continuation of trial.
    It is alleged that Masaire (39) had a misunderstanding with Mutekedza at Tacoz Beer Hall at Zoma Business Centre on March 19, 2017.
    Masaire allegedly struck Mutekedza once on the head using a machete thereby inflicting injuries which caused the now deceased`s death on March 20, 2017.
    The accused said he struck the deceased in self-defence after Mutekedza first struck him with the machete and hid it behind the shop counter.
    Masarire was seen committing the crime by Virimayi who is dumb and he identified the murderer by just pointing at him.
    Masaire is an ex-convict for unlawful use of dangerous drugs and also one murder case which was reduced to culpable homicide sometime ago.
