CHIVHU – Chivhu-based Ecocash agent Brighton Rima has lost $3 400 to two robbers who visited him at home and woke him up in the guise that they were Police officers investigating a case.
One of the robbers was allegedly in Police uniform while the other was in civilian.
In addition to the cash Rima lost mobile cellphones, a driver's license, passport and bank cards.
Efforts to get a comment from the Police were fruitless but Rima himself confirmed the case.
Rima said he was escorted home at about 7pm by his colleague Last Gweru and an hour later the man in Police uniform and a colleague pitches up and said they wanted to interview him as he was a witness in a certain case.
They purported to be taking him to the Police station but assaulted him along the way accusing him of keeping weapons.
They returned and searched the house and that is when they looted Rima of the cash and valuables in the presence of family members.
The matter was reported to the Police.
"The man in Police uniform was light in complexion and a giant," said Rima.
The matter was reported to the Police.
