GWERU – Police in Gweru are looking for a man who is a suspect in the murder of his wife and one-year-old child who were axed to death in their sleep.
Midlands Acting Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende confirmed the incident which happened in Mberengwa on Friday.
Mukululi Moyo (30) is alleged to have had a misunderstanding with his wife and this saw the wife deserting him to go and stay with her sister at Nyama General Dealer in Neta Business Center Mberengwa.
Netsai Maruvisa (23) took with her the couple's son.
On February 23, 2016 Moyo followed his wife at the sister's place where he hoped to resolve the dispute and take her back home. However, the negotiations collapsed and the accused threatened to use a witch doctor to kill the wife and child and then left.
The same night Maruvisa and her son slept in one room and her sister in another room at the back of the shop.
"The sister was shocked to find her sister and child hacked to death the next morning. Both bodies had injuries on their heads and it seemed they had been struck by an axe.
"We are investigating a murder case which involves a man who is on the run. Police is on the hunt for Moyo who is suspected to have axed his wife and kid in their sleep," said Mukwende.crime news
