CHIREDZI – A teacher at a Chiredzi school did not wait another day but packed his bags and allegedly crossed into South Africa after allegations emerged that he was abusing a Grade 7 pupil and a report was going to be made at a local Police station.
Godwill Gwata disappeared from Mhlanguleni Primary School in Chiredzi in a huff. He was never seen again after The Mirror broke the story.
Chiredzi District Schools Inspector Petronella Nyangwe was not available for comment but a source at the school confirmed the latest development.
The source said Police and social workers later came but he was gone.
"The teacher who was fingered in the abuse of a grade 7 pupil for more than a year is no longer at school. He was last seen the day the matter was reported to Police and information we have is that he crossed to South Africa where he is now hiding," said the source.
The Community is demanding a thorough investigation at the school to bring all those involved in child sexual abuse to book.
Members of Mhlanguleni Old Students Association (MOSA) in South Africa are threatening to have Gwata deported back as soon as they know his whereabouts.
He is alleged to be staying in Soshanguve Extension in Pretoria. crime news
