CHIREDZI – A Kwekwe based soldier has appeared before a Chiredzi Magistrate for assaulting an MDC-T activist who he accused of being a sell-out because he was wearing his party T-shirt.
He threatened to deal with the complainant more come 2018.
Hardlife Makuyana who is stationed at 5 Brigade in Kwekwe, appeared before Chiredzi Resident Magistrate Constance Mutandwa last Wednesday facing assault charges.
The State led by Gladmore Gwara alleges that on February 19, 2017 at Vhurumuku Business Centre in Chiredzi Makuyana approached Brighton Dzvova who was wearing an MDC-T T-shirt and asked him why he wore the T-shirt. He pushed him by his neck and accused him of being a sellout who was pardoned in 2013 but he was going to personally deal with him come 2018. The t-shirt was torn during the process.
Magistrate Mutandwa remanded Makuyana out of custody and he will appear again in court on March 21, 2017.
