Value Chain Supermarket robbed at gunpoint

GWERU – Two armed robbers stormed Value Chain Supermarket at Consila in Gweru on Friday evening last week and escaped with $1 315.35.
The robbers demanded money from the supermarket manager Abel Sondo just after the till operators had cashed their daily takings. Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson Joel Goko confirmed the robbery and said the robbers fired shots into the sky as they disappeared into the night.
"Sondo was with two other sales representatives in his office who were handing over daily cash sales when two robbers arrived," said Goko.
"The three had just finished counting all the cash sales for the day and preparing to put the cash in a safe when two unknown male adults who maybe in their 20s entered. One of them was holding a gun which looked like a pistol.
"He then ordered the three to lie down whilst pointing the gun at them, the other accused person demanded cash and the manager handed over $1 315,35 which was in the safe," said a source.
