Storm blows off Maramba Pri Admin block roof

CHIVI – A heavy storm that hit Chivi district last week on Thursday left the 70 year old Maramba Primary School administration block without a roof.
Speaking to The Mirror on the phone the SDC Chairman Crispen Bhonia said the block was blown off and up to now no repairs have been carried out because the school has no money and parents have not been paying insurance.
"The block's roof was blown off by wind and the school has no money to carry out repairs, the blocks have also developed big cracks and grades 2 and 5 pupils are having their lessons mixed because the other block is almost falling.
"The best would be to build new blocks as these have outlived their lifespan," said Bhonia.
Godfrey Huruva Mukungunugwa a local businessman who rushed to the school soon after hearing about the disaster added that the school is a sorry state and requires urgent attention.
"Some of the children are learning while standing as they are afraid that the walls and the roof may give in at any time. As a result we are mobilising funds to the tune of $40 000 in order to construct at least two blocks to avert the impending disaster," said Huruva. local news
