Riverton whiz kid gets 28 points

MASVINGO - Riverton has done it again. The school has produced the student with the highest number of points at 'A' Level in Masvingo Province.
Takunda Lester Mwinjilo amassed a total of 28 points from six science subjects. This is a rare feat as the maximum number of 'A' level subjects that whiz kids take is five and even with that it's not common for the students to get 25 points.
Mwinjilo had the following symbols, Mathematics A (star); Computer Science A (star); Physics A; Chemistry A; Biology A and Further Mathematics C.
Mwinjilo could not however, match the school record as one of his predecessors Emmanuel Zhou made a clean sweep with 30 points last year.
Riverton School Deputy Head, Collen Mugoni confirmed Mwinjilo's results.
Mwinjilo comes from Vainona in Harare.
Mugoni said the school was happy with Mwinjilo's performance and the boy had led by example as he was the school vice headboy.
"We are excited as a school with his results. He was a vice headboy and his results will for many years remain an inspiration to students who come after him," said Mugoni.
Takunda's mother, Hlezipi Mwinjilo said she was over the moon with her son's performance. She said she couldn't even speak about it.
"I can only say I am so happy about Takunda, he is intelligent that is all I can say," said Mwinjilo
Takunda was Riverton's best O Level student in 2014 when he got 9As', all with stars.
The school overally had a 100% pass rate and this feat had not been dented  since 2008 thereby making it probably the country's best A level institution.
Riverton school head Herbert Mushandu believes his school is the best in Zimbabwe as far as 'A' level Cambridge is concerned.
"We believe in clean work and collaboration and this is the reason for our success," said Mushandu.
