    Pamushana leads ‘O’ Level pass rate


    MASVINGO – Pass rates for the November 2016 Zimsec O level Exams in Masvingo were generally high with several Schools in getting scores of students with a string of As.
    Although there was no analysis that could be obtained from the Provincial Education Director's office, a survey by The Mirror showed that Pamushana High had the highest pass rate at 93% and Gokomere was at number two with 89,9%.
    Gokomere High had scores of students with a string of As. Panashe Masekesa obtaining 15As and Willing Biza 14As and 1B. A total of 92 out of 237 students obtained 5As and above. The school`s pass rate has dropped from last year which was 92%.
    Ndarama High is no longer just one of the best schools in the province but it has definitely entered the league of boarding schools with a pass rate of 76%. Although Ndarama is a day school with a further disadvantage of hot sitting, its pass rate is far above schools in the same league.
    Chibi High got an 87, 9% pass rate and this is a drop of 1% from last year. Nyasha Matunga is the best student with 9As'. Chibi had 54 candidates out of 179 who managed to come up with 5As' and above.
    Morgenster High made a huge leap forward from a pass rate of 15% the previous to 49% to the current results. Silveira High recorded a pass rate of 84,38%  and this is an improvement from last year's 82,25%. Tonderai Nhundu is the best student at the school with 13As and 1B. Some 44 students out of 192 managed to come up with 5As and above.
    Zimuto has an 82,57% pass rate with the highest student obtaining 11As, 1B and 1C.
    Chingombe 2 Alheit High got 76% pass rate this year and this is an increase compared to 72% realized last year. Some 25 students out of 133 obtained 5As and above and the highest student is Prosper Mabvugu with 9As and 1B.
    Gutu High has 30 out of 180 students with 5As and above and it has a pass rate of 73,3%. Chitsidzo Dengura is the best student with 14As and a B in English Langauge. Berejena had a 74,9% pass rate compared to 65,8% the previous year. Female student Comfort Pangurai scooped 11As. There are 18 students out of 123who had 5As and above.
    At Mutendi High the highest student is Tinashe Mahweke with 9As 1B and 1C. At Mutero High the outstanding student has 8As and 3Bs, at St Anthony`s the outstanding student has 11As and at Mashoko has 8As.
    Some schools with high pass rates are Nyashanu; 86%, Makumbe High 81% and Jichidza 63%. Gwindingi High at Nyika got 29,26% with two students scoring 9As'.education news
