    Mucheke Pirates ready to fight for honours in Division 1


    MASVINGO – Eastern Region Division 1 new side, FC Mucheke Pirates says it is ready to fight for honors in the tough league that resumes next month.
    Speaking at the sidelines of a special Annual General Meeting that appointed a strong executive that is set to steer the team this year, team said it will be working towards bringing the soccer's lost glory in the city.
    Mucheke Pirates, spokesperson, Godfrey  Mtimba  said the team will be led by men of high standing in the society  drawn from diverse professional backgrounds but endowed with keen interest in soccer.
    "In the just ended meeting  we have come up with men of integrity in the soccer fraternity  who are determined to bring back the good old days of football glory in the city and the province at large. The men are soccer lovers who have vast experience in the administration of the world's most beautiful game so we are looking forward to building a great team," said Mtimba who is part of the executive.
    Prominent Masvingo businessman, Taguma Mazarire was appointed the team patron while veteran football administrator and prominent local lawyer, Phillip Shumba was appointed the Chief Executive Offcier (C.EO.) of the club.
     Roman Catholic Church, Priest, Father Raymond Mahefu is the Chairman of the club while Andrew Ushe who has been in the football administration for a very long time is the vice chairman.
     Youthful local lawyer Omen Mafa is the new secretary while Great Zimbabwe University lecturer, Givewell Munyaradzi.
    Johannes Ruvengo another legal practitioner is the treasurer.
     Bulging Director of Ceremonies and veteran educationist, David Masomere and Hardlife Piki are the entertainment managers,
    Solani Hlomulo a local retail shop manager, Joyman Ruvando and Takesure Hlupo both GZU lecturers, are the new marketing mangers.
     Amos Chuma and Munyaradzi Shonhiwa are the Transport Managers.
    Simbarashe Mabwazara is the chief cashier.
    Committee Members are Gift Muzenda, Ringi Nyahunda, and Munyaradzi Ndichineyi.
    Ruvengo and Advocate Collen Maboke were named the club lawyers.
    The team will be coached by Joe Kwangware and his assistants Edmore Ngara and Charles Machipanda.
    The new boys have struck a partnership with a local school which will be its grooming side for young talented stars, meanwhile training has commenced and the team held successful trials which saw the signing of gifted young players who are ready to prove their mettle in the league.
    The team was formed in 2016 and played in Masvingo region Division 2 where it played 30 games and lost none.sport news
