ZVISHAVANE - An 18-year-old boy from Mazvihwa has appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate after he allegedly stabbed his father over a land dispute.
Takesure Zhou of Mhere village under chief Mataruse accused his father of ploughing in a field that he had had given him. Zhou was lucky to escape attempted murder charges as he was charged with assault. He appeared before Magistrate Shephered Munjanja on Monday allegations of stabbing his father Kirion Zhou (38) once on the back following an altercation. The State represented by Shiella Mupindu told the court that sometime last year Kirion promised to give his son a field to farm as he (Takesure) was now approaching adulthood.
On January 3, Kirion ploughed in that field as Takesure is still under his custody. This did not go well with Takesure who then insulted his father for dishonoring his pledge. Kirion was taken to hospital and a medical report was presented as exhibit. Takesure surrendered himself to Buchwa Police Station leading to his arrest.
