    Shabani FC clinches sponsorship deal

ZVISHAVANE – Shabani FC also known as Chinda Boys by their legion of vociferous supporters' perennial financial woes could be a thing of the past as they are on the verge of securing a major sponsorship deal with Banc ABC bank for the ensuing 2017 season in the Premiership, The Mirror has learnt.
An unidentified Banc ABC official said the bank is expected to put ink to paper by January 10 next week if the parties reach a consensus on the sponsorship deal.
The development comes after Banc ABC terminated their sponsorship marriage with the country's football giants Dynamos FC and Highlanders FC at the end of the 2016 season after assisting the two clubs since 2013.
"The bank shall give players monthly salaries and there is a proposal that the highest paid footballer shall be paid $850 and the lowest $300," said the official.
Banc ABC is also expected to provide the team transport, uniforms and training kits as it has been doing with Flame Lilly, Black Rhinos, Black Mambas and Chapungu FC.
The asbestos miners' manager Dr Ben Mataka could neither confirm nor deny the developments when contacted for comment.
"The management is indeed in talks with a number of sponsors who have shown keen interest in sponsoring the club and we are sure the name of the chief sponsor will be unveiled as soon as the deal is signed," said Dr Mataka.
Chinda Boys are the defending champions of the last Banc ABC sponsored silverware the Banc ABC Sup8r Cup which they won in 2013 after beating bitter rivals FC Platinum 5-3 on penalty shootout at Mandava Stadium when the team was under the guidance of nomadic coach Luke Vahombe Masomere.
Chinda Boys are the most supported team in the Central Region and rated the fourth in the country after Dynamos, Highlanders and Caps United.
The Chinda Boys won the right to play in the Premiership (if the impasse currently between Zifa and PSL on the number of teams to be promoted is resolved) after clinching the Central Region Division One League in dramatic fashion without a sponsor only relying on the benevolence of individuals week in week out.
