    Robber uses hi-tech to steal phone from Masvingo businessman’s car


    MASVINGO – In a high profile case of theft a robber was thoroughly beaten recently when he was caught using high tech methods to steal valuables from a prominent Masvingo businessman's state of the art Chevrolet SUV.
    Sources told The Mirror that the businessman who pleaded with The Mirror not to disclose his name used his remote key to lock his car as he went into N Richard Wholesalers along Rekayi Tangwena Avenue but the thief used another remote key to simultaneously stop the locking process.
    Efforts to get the name of the thief were fruitless by the time of going to print.
    The thief opened the doors of the car as soon as the businessman disappeared into the wholesale and stole a Note 2 Samsung.
    A man popularly known as Dread spotted him and alerted the businessman and. The two ran after the thief who threw stones  at them as he ran away but was apprehended by vendors who severely assaulted and left him bleeding profusely.
    The phone could not be recovered because some members of the gang escaped with it.
    The thief was arrested by the Police and has since been slapped with a two-year jail sentence.
    Sources said the gang has become notorious for following its prey and as one tries to lock the car using an alarm system they would simultaneously unlock the vehicle and quickly gain entry and steal without any hassle.
