    Midlands Christian College assistant bursar suspended over $145 820 fraud


    GWERU – An assistant Bursar at the Midlands Christian College (MCC) in Gweru has been suspended following allegations of a $ 145 820-15 fraud at the school.
    It is alleged that Godfrey Nyika  on different occasions between the period of March 19, 2014 and September 17, 2014 generated and submitted invoices in the names of Flame Gases and Electro Sales to MCC for a total  of $81955-85 as if the companies had supplied goods to MCC.
     However in actual fact his company Sky Trade had supplied the goods to MCC without declaring conflict of interest.
    During the same period he allegedly made a misrepresentation to MCC by processing payments in the pretext that Flames Gases supplied goods worth $63 864-30 to the college whilst in actual fact the goods were not bought  and supplied .
    The money was allegedly deposited in his company Sky Trade banking account.
    The total prejudice is put at $145 820,15.
    This was revealed during an audit and the bursar Rumbidzai Gora was also facing fraud case.
     The matter was heard by magistrate Judith Taruvinga and Hellen Khosa prosecuted.crime news
