    Justice Chiweshe to open 2017 legal year


    MASVINGO - Judge President George Chiweshe will officially open the 2017 legal year at Masvingo High Court on January 16 2017.
    This was confirmed by the deputy registrar of the High Court in Masvingo, Dorothy Mwanyisa last Monday.
    "There will be a procession from the Central Police station to the High Court where the Judge President will address guests and officially open the 2017 legal year," said Mwanyisa.
    During the first term of the High Court session there will be 22 murder cases that will go on trial.
    The first term ends on April 7 and the second term opens on May 15 after the Easter vacation and ends on August 4.
    The third term begins on September 11 ending on December 1, 2017.
    The Masvingo High Court was officially opened by the Vice President EmmersonMnangagwa who is also responsible for the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs in April last year and is housed at the former civil court which was extensively renovated to suite the standards of a higher court.
