Gutu cop found with workmate’s wife – Magistrate recuses self

GUTU – Gutu Magistrate Edwin Marecha has recused himself from a case where a senior Police officer is accused of assaulting his junior who allegedly found him with a workmate's wife.
Amos Mandiwanzira (42) who is a sergeant at ZRP Gutu appeared before Magistrate Chineka last week facing assault charges. The complainant is Liberty Kashiri (27), a constable who was guarding at a door after allegedly finding the accused with workmate's wife.
It is the State case that on August 1, 2016 Brian Chikono who is a constable at Gutu ZRP went to his homestead in Gonvill with other policemen after he suspected that his boss was having an affair with his wife Madeline Makonese.
Chikono arrived at his home at around 9pm and broke into his house where he found Mandiwanzira with his wife. Kashiri stood at the door to stop Mandiwanzira from running away.
Mandiwanzira then allegedly assaulted Kashiri, pushing him away as he tried to run away.
Magistrate Marecha recused himself from the case and said he will refer it to another court.
