Bhasikiti to contest Mwenezi East seat

MWENEZI – Firebrand former Zanu PF politician who is now one of the gurus at Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF), Kudakwashe Bhasikiti has said that he would be contesting the Mwenezi East Constituency left vacant after the death of the incumbent MP last December.
The by-election which is due in March this year promises fireworks as Bhasikiti is the immediate past MP before the late Joshua Moyo and is one of the most popular politicians in Mwenezi.
Bhasikiti is also the national secretary for elections at ZimPF.
Addressing tens of supporters at his homestead at Moria Farm during an end of year party on Sunday, Bhasikiti said he is ready to return his seat without any failure.
The seat fell vacant after the death of Moyo who ironically won the seat after Bhasikiti was fired from Zanu PF and subsequently from Parliament for allegedly plotting the ouster of President Mugabe together with his party leader Joice Mujuru.
"I am ready to grab my seat come the by-election expected in March. My term was terminated by jealousy ZANU-PF members who did not want to see me developing my constituency and my people", said Bhasikiti.
Bhasikiti did not go without a fight when he lost the seat. He actually approached the Supreme Court to stop President Mugabe from declaring the seat vacant after he was fired from Zanu PF. He however, lost his appeal.
Bhasikiti who is the former Minister of State for Masvingo also had many running battles with Zanu PF including youth sabotaging his farm.top story news
