    2 Beitbridge men convicted of impersonating Police


    BEITBRIDGE – Albert Bako (25) and Blessing Moyo (26) of Dulibadzimu were last week sentenced to 14 months each in prison after being convicted of impersonating the Police and mounting a roadblock where they robbed motorists.
    It is the State case that on December 13, 2016 in the morning the two were manning a fake roadblock at the 40km peg along Beitbridge-Harare road where they arrested Emmanuel Mateula (52) of Gezani Clinic, Mavheza in Chiredzi.
    Mateula was driving a Nissan registration number KMB 497 JP and was stopped by the duo who produced fake Police IDs and introduced themselves as from the Border Control Unit and made him to pay a fine of R3 700 for failure to produce a driver's license and declaration for goods.
    Mateula was suspicious and went to make a report at Bubi roadblock manned by Constable Mukusha Golden and Constable Makechemu Nobert.
    They tracked Bako and Moyo and found them attempting to rob Patrick Munyoro (38) of Chibuwe Village, Checheche in Chipinge whom they had blocked his vehicle 20km from Bubi shopping centre.
    The two were arrested at the scene and R900, a yellow Honda fit ADJ 0775, blue light beacon, blue t-shirts with police badges, fake IDs and clip boards with ZRP stationary forms 208 were recovered
    Magistrate Langton Mukwengi sentenced them to 12 months each on the first count, 4 months were suspended on condition they restitute Mataula R2800.
    On count two, Mukwengi sentenced them to 12 months each in prison whereby 6 months were suspended for five years.
