Mirror Bureau chief receives ZMC/MSU Award

GWERU - Mirror bureau chief for Mash East based in Chivhu, Ellen Mlambo was one of the few graduating students at the Midlands State University who was recognised for outstanding work.
She got the Zimbabwe Media Commission Award for Excelling In Journalism While On Work Related Learning 2015.
Mlambo who was capped by President Mugabe last Friday after graduating with a Bsc Degree Honours in Media and Society Studies received the award which is sponsored by the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) and she is among five students from her class who got an honour.
The graduation was held at the Multi Purpose Hall (MPH), main campus in Gweru.
The award by ZMC had prize money and this is the second time that Mlambo is winning an award at a national level inside a year. Last year she scooped $1 000 after being adjudged the Best Student on Attachment to write on Traffic and Safety Issues.
Mlambo is this week attending yet another function in Harare where she has been nominated for the Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust (YETT) Youthful Voice League Awards.
Mirror Editor, Nkulumani Mlambo said that Mlambo had done the organisation proud.  He said the fact that she won the prize for the best student on attachment shows that the company's industrial attachment programme was effective.
"We are proud as an organisation that a student who did attachment with us emerged the best at a reputable University like MSU. This speaks volumes about us as a media company. Ellen did one-year attachment programme with us and we gave her a job on completion of her studies," said Mlambo
The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Higher and Tertiary education Science and Technology Jonathan Moyo, Midlands Minister of State for provincial Affairs Jaison Machaya among many other dignitaries.
