Gweru based Chipembere Queens eyes LM Auctioneers Trophy

GWERU - Gweru based women soccer team, Chipembere Queens FC has promised to bring the LM Auctioneers trophy to Gweru from Bulawayo at Luveve stadium at the weekend.
"Although the tournament has come during difficult times for women's soccer we promise not to disappoint as we are going to bring the trophy home," said Brightwell Kadungure an official with the Chipembere Queens FC.
The team will be representing Gweru at fifth Lewis Muzhara (LM) Auctioneers eight team tournament which had taken a two year break. The tournament was last won by Botswana based Double Action in Gweru and is sponsored to the tune of $20 000 with the winners walking away with $3 000 plus medals while the runners up will pocket $1 500 and medals.
Luveve will have the privilege of hosting the tournament 5th edition as in 2014 and 2015 financial problems proved to be a barrier to the tournament staging.
In an interview with The Mirror LM Auctioneers Director, Lewis Muzhara stated that the main purpose of the tournament is to, "promote women soccer and equality in football".
The tournament will feature 2 teams from Botswana, the defending champions and Township Rovers and Inline Academy, Hearts of Oak, Flame Lilly Black Rhinos from Harare, Masvingo Queens and Hwange Queens
