GWANDA - Three members of the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) are under investigation after they allegedly assaulted and killed a man that they were drinking beer together with at Musundu Business Centre in Fort Rixon.
The three are accused of killing 46-year-old Josiah Sithole of Blue T 26 Hamilton in Fort Rixon.
Bright Joe Nyoni 29, Fighter Mwembe 30 and Ntandoyenkosi Sibanda 26 are all from ZNA.
ZNA spokesperson Lt Col Alphious Makotore confirmed the incident.
"I can confirm the incident and investigations are underway. However, since this is now in the hands of the Police I cannot comment further," he said.
However, Police spokesperson, Superintendent Paul Nyathi said he did not have any information pertaining to the case when contacted for comment.
The four were at Musundu Business Centre where they were drinking beer.
It is alleged that the deceased took one of the accused persons' bicycle and after riding for almost a kilometre he parked it and slept on the side road.
When the accused found Sithole at the road side, one of them grabbed the bicycle and a misunderstanding arose.
The trio assaulted him until he was unconscious. A member of the Neighbourhood Watch found his almost lifeless body by the road.crime news
