    Chikato Govt School head resigns

    TAWANDA HOMBA

MASVINGO – The head of Chikato Government Primary School in Mucheke Masvingo, Vongai Mapengo has resigned.
There are allegations that she was forced to resign after a string of bad audit reports. Auditors condemned a tennis court build at the school and alleged that the cost of constructing it was inflated.
In the second case, the school bursar Silas Chikamhi sneaked and disappeared early this year when auditors arrived to do audits. It is widely believed that he has skipped the border to South Africa.
Around $14 000 is suspected to have been lost when the bursar disappeared.
Mapengo however, disputed the allegations that she was forced to resign. She told The Mirror that she was going on early retirement after serving the Ministry for 38 years.
Mapengo is holding a farewell party today (Thursday).local news
