We forgive Mapeza - Platinum fans

    TINASHE SURE

ZVISHAVANE - FC Platinum gaffer Norman Mapeza who was on centre of criticism after a poor form of result which saw the platinum miners reduce their chance for a first championship dream as they were held by Ngezi Platinum FC in their last league encounter has earned some forgiveness from the fans as he gave them something to cheer with a win in Chibuku Cup final.
Speaking to the Mirror an FC Platinum fan stated that "at least we have something to cheer after such disappointing series of results and we forgive Mapeza and we gave him our full support".
Mapeza had to be escorted out of the stadium with the security forces for his safe passage as fans were singing asking for his head after a second consecutive league draw.
The platinum miners were then looking to bounce back from a series of poor results and redeem themselves in front of angry fans.
It was a perfect reaction from Mapeza who was a subject of mockery by tallies with FC Platinum fans baying for his head.
Norman Mapeza side responded with a scintillating performance as they beat the defending champions Harare City 3-0 in Chibuku cup semi-final last Saturday at Mandava Stadium in what seemed to be a one sided encounter.
Goals from Charles Sibanda, Rodwell Chinyengetere and Marshal Mudehwe ensured a smooth passage in to Chibuku Cup final.
The same fans who were baying for Mapeza head gave him a vote of confidence with a standing ovation at the end of the match with chants of Mapeza dominating the stands.
In an interview Mapeza stated that the fans have issued their apologies to him as they send the supporters chairman on their behalf.
Rodwell Chinyengetere opened the score line in the 33rd minute with a brilliant goal into the top right corner of sunshine city goalie, Tafadzwa Dube.
Charles Sibanda doubled the score line in the 78th minute with Marshal Mudehwe concluding the score line with a fine goal in the 82 minute of the game to ensure a comfortable passage into the cup final.
Harare city have the chance to pull one back and level the scores as William Mundondo squandered the chance over the cross bar in the 67th minute.
Harare city were the home team according to draw, thus they have to produce match day balls and it was the platinum fans who looked suspicious with Harare City match balls as in the first 33 minutes every ball that went to was stabbed.
Sunshine City gaffer Moses Chunga looked disappointed with his team performance as he refused to talk to the media after the game.
FC Platinum will now face Ngezi Platinum in the cup final who defeated Highlanders 1-0 last Sunday at Barbourfields. sport news
