    Shurugwi woman killed for ‘gossiping’

GWERU - A 69-year-old woman from Mushayavanhu Village under Chief Nhema was killed by a neighbour following an altercation over 'gossip'.
Julian Mandevo was allegedly killed by Tichaona Kambevo (33) of the same village on October 15, 2016.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Inspector Joel Goko confirmed the incident. It is alleged that at around 7pm Mandevo was sitting in her hut with her daughter Lauren Mandevo (29) when the accused approached them and started shouting at her.
Kambevo indicated that the deceased was spreading rumours which he didn't clarify but purported to be about his mother.
The deceased's daughter pushed him outside and when the accused person went outside he picked a piece of wood and he rushed towards the deceased intending to strike her  but the daughter stood between him and her and he struck the daughter once on the shoulder who then ran away.
Kambevo then struck the deceased several times with the logo and the daughter returned later to find her mother lying on the floor unable to speak and her eyelids were full of blood.
She died at Shurugwi hospital and Kambevo was arrested.
