MWENEZI - The District Administrator for Mwenezi has said boreholes in the district need to be sunk 60m down as the water table is declining due to the devastating effects of the El Nino- induced  drought which affected the country in the last season.
"Mwenezi is a dry area and most boreholes were drilled with depth of 40 meters which can only sustain people during the rainy season, the water table gets very low beyond the reach of the pipes so we need to drill deeper beyond 60 meters," said Rosemary Chingwe in an interview with The Mirror recently.
She also added that the government together with Non-Governmental Organisations will partner to ease the water woes. local news
