Eng Munyaradzi promises thousands of dollars worth of projects for Dewure High

GUTU – Prominent Harare based and Gutu born land developer Engineer Felix Munyaradzi son to Chief Munyaradzi has pledged to construct a 1km tarred road that connects the main road, girls' hostel and the clinic at Dewure High School.
The donation was announced on Saturday at the school's speech and prize giving ceremony by Fungai Swinura who stood in for Eng Munyaradzi who was the guest of honour.
He also promised to provide pavings for an area of over 5000 square meters, drilling of three boreholes to irrigate sports fields and an all-weather combined tennis, volleyball, basketball courts and roofing material for a new administration block.
The ceremony was held under the theme 'Seizing Opportunities to Produce Extraordinary Results' where students and teachers who excelled in various fields were awarded prizes.
"The theme is not only relevant to the modern day learners whom we are gathered here for, but is quite befitting to all of us, parents, teachers, locals and the business community. My message therefore is directed to all of us gathered here.
"As a person in business I have been made to understand the value of an opportunity and when it comes knocking on my door I seize it with both hands. Similarly, when opportunity does not, for any reason, come knocking on my door then I create it. That is why I see great vision at Dewure High School leadership, both the school administration and the School Development Committee. They have seen the value of opportunity, they seize that which is readily and they create it for the learner as well. In business circles we call that the billionaire's mind set,'' said Engineer Munyaradzi.
"This years' parents and prize giving day also marks 50 years since the inception of the school in January 1966. A separate occasion to celebrate the golden jubilee has been scheduled for next year when the church, the local community, the student pioneers of the 1960's and those of the new millennium meet for the grand celebrations.
"We can see a bit of history of the school from 1966 to date, showing how it grew from an enrolment of 36 form one boys, to the current enrolment of 887 form 1 to 6 students. The school is now manned by 38 members of the teaching staff and 18 members of the support staff,'' said Samuel Mahwehwe the school head.
He added that the school won two Secretary's Merit Awards in 1983 and 1998 under the former head John Muchokomori Ziki. The secretary Merit Award is the highest honour given to the best performing school by the Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
"The school has also managed to win the most prestigious sporting tournament Copa Coca-Cola twice that is in 2010 and in 2015 this is a big achievement in just 50 years of existence. I can proudly and confidently say Dewure High School shall never cease to raise this barrier of success.
"Our performance graph in public examinations (ZIMSEC) shall continue to rise. In the O'' Level category it rose from 50, 3% in 2013, to a 58, 08% in 2014 to a record 65, 29% in 2015. In the 'A' Level category it steadily rose from 94.12% in 2013, to 95, 8% in 2014 and currently it is 97, 67 % in 2015. Our targets for 2016 are 70% and 100% 'O' and 'A' Level respectively,'' he said.education
