    Clashes as Chief Jahana buses 200 to reclaim land in Insiza

    INSIZA – There are serious land clashes in Mat South after Chief Jahana allegedly bussed 200 of his people from Gokwe to come and reclaim their forefathers land in Insiza.
    Chief Jahana says his people were relocated to Gokwe from Insiza in 1963 and now they have come back to reclaim their land. The Mirror however understands that Government had already resettled oyther people on the land.
    People in ward 22 of Insiza District burnt down houses belonging Chief Jahana's people claiming that they have unlawfully settled themselves in their grazing land.
    The question of land ownership at Charletin Insiza district has become contradictory after the Chief Jahana clan that was resettled to Gokwe by the white settlers in 1963 decided to come and claim back their land.
    It's almost ten years since Chief Jahana came back to Insiza to claim back his land.
    Julius Vuma who is the secretary of Egibixhegu, an association that is safe guarding the interest of Chief Jahana said, they came to reclaim their land.
    "Two hundred forty-four of our people came to reclaim their land. Some have been allocated whilst others are yet to. When we came here we were even prepared to stay in the bush with animals but the community leaders took us in but now since 2006 we have not been given anything concrete.
    "We recently lost houses to the Combo residents who burnt our properties claiming that we are in their grazing land and they do not want us in their community.," he added.
    ZANU PF Chairman Shem Mathe and his people resolved to share the illegal settlers within the 22 villages at least three per village..
    Mathe said he is surprised by the move taken by the locals considering that they welcomed Chief Jahana when he came back from Gokwe.
    Insiza District Administrator Sithandiwe Ncube declined to discuss the issue with the Press.
    "I cannot comment on this, actually I don't want to talk about this matter especially to the Press," she said.
