Zanu PF supporters invade Tongaat farm in Mwenezi

A group of ZANU-PF activists numbering about 200 have invaded a farm belonging to Tongaat Hulett in Mwenezana Estate.
The invaders who were clad in party regalia and chanted liberation war songs descended on the Farm and started pegging out pieces of land which they allocated to each other.
They told The Mirror that they were invading the farm to fulfil an approval that has already been given by the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlements Douglas Mombeshora but was not being implemented by the local land officers.
Mombeshora however, denied knowledge of the invasion when contacted for a comment.
He said he would engage with the Provincial Lands officer in order that the matter is investigated speedily.
"I am not aware of that issue, however we will attend to the matter so that by the end of the week something would have been resolved," he said.
Sources said Rennias Muchoko who is the ZANU-PF secretary for transport in Mwenezi District leading the invasion.
Muchoko confirmed the invasion and said the take-over of the land was a must project. He alleged that the project was approved by Dr Mombeshora but it was the lands officers who were delaying its implementation.
"Minister Mombeshora has assigned the provincial lands office to allocate our farmers this land which Tongaat is keeping idle.
"Tongaat and the Government agreed sometime ago that this land be taken over and the position has not changed. Tongaat is aware that we are taking land from their paddocks", said Muchoko.
Efforts to get a comment from Tongaat were fruitless.local news
