    National Tested Seeds opens branch in Masvingo


    MASVINGO- Fast growing seed and agricultural equipment distributor, National Tested Seed has opened its first branch in Masvingo, which is the 22nd in the country  Chris Gatsi, the proprietor told The Mirror.
    "We opened our first shop in Masvingo early this month and our aim is to bring farming equipment to the farmers in Masvingo and the region. The opening coincides with the beginning of the rainy season which will help in boosting agricultural production in the province as we have all sorts of equipment at their convenience," said Gatsi.
    Although the company started as agricultural seed supplier only they have since diversified into agricultural equipment since 2010.
    He added that they are ready for the competition in the sector and they will do everything to stay afloat by ensuring that farmers get value for their money.
    "Our prices are next to none for example a 14horse power small tractor goes for $2 999, we also supply all types of seeds, vegetables are going for as little as $0.60c, seed maize from $1.50 while fertiliser can be found in small packets for $1 each," said Gatsi.
    Francis Kwera the branch manager revealed that they are going to embark in massive farmer education on the operations of the company in all the seven districts of Masvingo.
    "We are here in Masvingo to strengthen our relationship with the farmers in order to fight hunger in the province which is normally afflicted by drought," added Kwera.
    National Tested Seeds which started as a seed supplier only was established in 1978 in Harare and has since spread its wings to Bulawayo, Chegutu, Gweru, Gokwe, Bindura and all major centres in the country.agriculture news
