    Gutu man stabs niece (3) with a knife

    GUTU - A three-year-old child from Mutadzaniso Village under Chief Mazuru in Gutu is luck to be alive after his uncle stabbed him with a knife which narrowly missed the carotid artery vein in the neck that supplies blood to the brain.
    The child is admitted at Gutu Mission Hospital.
    The nerve was narrowly missed but was left exposed by the cut, said medical sources.
    The sources also said that the cut by the knife ran from the head through the neck right down to the abdomen and the child was stabbed for allegedly eating sadza which was left over from the previous night.
    The matter is now at the courts and the allegations are that Tafadzwa Rangarirai (24) was left with the child by his sister Raviro Rangarirai (53). He stabbed the child after discovering that the minor had eaten the sadza. Tafadzwa is now in jail on remand facing attempted murder charges.
    Further Ranganai is alleged to have hit the juvenile with an axe handle on the back of the neck.
    Realising that the child was bleeding profusely Rangarirai bandaged his niece with a cloth and disappeared from the scene.
    Acting Police Spokesperson Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident.
    Tafadzwa was remanded in custody to October 27, 2016.
