    Chirumanzu community cleans Chaka

Members of the Chirumanzu community last week conducted a cleanup campaign at Chaka Business Centre which is considered the dirtiest place in the district because of its location along the busy Masvingo-Harare Highway.
The cleanup campaign was organised by the Chirumanzu District Water and Sanitation Subcommittee (DWSS), a standalone committee which comprises of 18 Government departments that look at the provision of water and sanitation in the district.
The Governmental departments in the subcommittee include the District Administrator's office, Chirumanzu RDC, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Women Affairs, Environmental Management Agency, Department of Social Welfare amongst others.
DWSS chairperson Gilbert Chiunye said they chose to conduct the cleanup campaign at Chaka Business Centre because it was one of the dirtiest places where buses that pass through to or from Masvingo stop and litter is thrown everywhere by passengers.
The campaign was attended by over 400 community members including pupils from Chaka primary and Gonawapotera secondary.
Ward 7 councilor, Marko Masocha said the campaign was a success considering the dirty at the place. He said the campaign was held under the theme; To keep Chaka, Chirumanzu clean.
Chicken Inn manager Simon Ngundu, representative from Spar and Chesa Nyama supported the campaign as most litter was believed to have been generated from their shops by passersby.
Chirumanzu RDC chairman Taurai Dzitirai said the campaign also targeted business set up because they are the ones selling along the highway either going to Harare or Masvingo.health news
