    Buhera RDC clerk faces fraud charges


    - Stenford Nyaundi (40) an accounts clerk at Buhera Rural District Council (RDC) based at Murambinda Growth point is appearing in court facing charges of defrauding the local authority of $177.
    The accused is pleading not guilty.
    Nyaundi was responsible for receipting money for land levy, plan approval and any other revenue.
    The complainant is Buhera RDC which is being represented by the Chief Executive Officer, Emily Chibvongodze.
    It is the State Case that on May 5 2014, Nyaundi was issued with a receipt book with serial numbers from 212401-212600 for collection of council revenue from clients.
    On May 9 2014, Nyaundi receipted $127 for plan approval and $50 for land levy from clients and the money was not accounted for.
    In June 2014 the receipt book went missing with unknown number of unused leafs.
    The offence was discovered in July 2015 after the two clients brought their receipts as proof of payment since there was no record of their payment.
    On July 17 2015 the complainant made a Police report leading to a request for an audit at Buhera District Council from the Provincial Administrator.crime news
