Buhera businessman Makumbe maintains 50km of road

GUTU – Veteran educationist and prominent Buhera businessman, Tarcisio Makumbe has mobilised resources and seen to it that 50km of dust road from Buhera to Nyazvidzi in Gutu has been maintained.
The Gutu – Buhera Road which is one of the major roads linking Masvingo and Manicaland has not been maintained for many years thereby forcing vehicles from Gutu to Murare or Rusape to travel a further 120 km as they are forced to go via Chivhu or back to Roy to join Masvingo – Mutare Road.
Makumbe financed the project together with other colleagues that he mobilised.
"We want to reconnect these areas (Buhera to Chivhu Turnoff) which have had a rough patch due to poor infrastructure as they have not received any attention for the past 40 years
"The project is being done in partnership with our children and the local authority which is providing the engine while we provide the diesel," said Makumbe.
"The rehabilitation or the road is expected to cover over 100km which will stretch from Buhera into Nyazvidzi to Mandeya turnoff through to Nyazvidzi Center to Hwete from Dewure then Tongogara and Mbirikiya through to Chivhu Turnoff from Serima.
"We have given council 200litres of diesel to rehabilitate the road and we are seeking permission from the councilor of ward 3 in Hwete to construct the road through his area," said Makumbe.
Council officials who spoke to The Mirror expressed gratitude to the individuals and challenged other citizens to give back to the community.
