Brick and Tile increases aggregate quarry production to 2 000t

Bricks, tiles, quarry and quarry products producer, Masvingo Brick and Tile has acquired a state of the art machine that will see production of quarry aggregates increasing 10-fold from 200 to 2 000 tonnes a day.
The development puts the company on a strong footing to adequately supply raw material for the dualisation of the Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway.
This was said by the company administrator, Lenny Chidimu.
"We have procured a new complete crushing plant for quarry aggregates from Gongyi Xiaoyi Hangyun Machinery Factory based in China and the machine is called Hoyu Symons Crusher," said Chidimu.
She said currently the plant is crushing about 200 tons per day but with the installation of the new machine the production capacity will be increased to 2000 tons per day and there will be no waiting for customers who want to purchase quarry for construction purposes.
Masvingo Brick and Tile which is located 7km from Masvingo City along Mashava road will also have the capacity to service the whole of the southern region and beyond.
"We will have the capacity to service the entire southern region and the Midlands Province as well.
"We are geared for the construction of the Masvingo-Beitbridge dual carriageway because we now have the capacity to supply the required quarry at any given time," Chidimu said.
The machine is being assembled by a group of local engineers with the assistance of two Chinese experts and commissioning will take place sometime this October.
When fully operational the machine will be operated by six people but more people are going to be employed because there will be more work due to increased production capacity.
Masvingo Brick and Tiles currently employs over 60 workers including casual and students on work related learning.
"For those customers without transport we have three trucks available and we also have dumpers, front end loaders and excavators. With the commissioning of this new machine we are going to procure more trucks and excavators which will cope with the work," said Chidimu.
She also said brick moulding capacity will also be increased from the current 10 000 to 50 000 bricks per day.
Masvingo Brick and Tile sits on a 36hectare piece of land and also produces blocks, standard and face bricks from the quarry dust.
The quarry comes in different sizes like 7mm stones, 13mm stones, 19mm and boulders.
The company also produces flower pots, precast cement walls, concrete bricks, rubbles, paving blocks, culvet pipes, picnic set, kerbstones, breeze blocks, river sand, quarry dust, wash tubs, gravel and pit sand.
Chidimu also said they have only mined about 5% of the available quarry since the company was established in 1947.business news
