    Zaka businesswoman wins ZNCC Award


    HARARE –
    Prominent Zaka businesswoman, Sarah Munemo who runs SaruPro Chickens at Jerera Growth Point came third in the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) category at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Women in Enterprise Awards held in Harare on Friday last week.
    The function was held at Cresta Lodge.
    The SME awards were sponsored by Swedish Development Association (SIDA).
    Munemo is into the business of rearing road runner chickens and eggs.
    This was Munemo's first time to participate in the annual national competitions which are running for the fourth time.
    "I am so excited with the recognition by ZNCC Women's Desk and as a first timer it is a great achievement for me and on behalf of all women particularly from Zaka, the award has given me the impetus to want to completely change the road runner industry in the country," said Munemo.
    Popular "Mai Chisamba Show" talk show presenter Dr Rebecca Chisamba of Chisamba Productions and Media Consultancy was the guest of honour, ZNCC national vice president and Securico owner Divine Ndhlukula also attended the awards ceremony which were held under the theme 'Sustainability of Women Owned Businesses in Zimbabwe Through Connecting Women Entrepreneurs'.
    The citation for the award was that SaruPro Chickens in changed women's perception towards chicken business which has 130 households in Zaka benefiting from her initiative.
    Munemo's efforts in empowering the rural women by affording them the opportunity to start their own business of rearing chicken was also considered.
    SaruPro Chickens was established in 2013.
    The awards were sponsored by MBCA Bank, British American Tobacco, Nyaradzo Group, Delta Corporation, Cimas, Marianhill Chartered Accountants, Securico, KenysGas, Dendairy, Zimbali and Cairns Foods Ltd.business news
