Shumba, Jaboon walk out of Zanu PF meeting

    - MP for Bikita South and Zanu PF provincial secretary for the commissariat Jeppy Jaboon and Politiburo member as well as the MP for Masvingo Urban Constituency Daniel Shumba left the Zanu PF Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held at Victoria Junior Primary before any agenda had been discussed.
The Sunday meeting was convened to discuss preparations for the Zanu PF annual conference to be held in Masvingo this December.
Shumba and Jaboon who are believed to be the top figures in a Zanu PF faction referred to as the G40 came at the venue, encouraged people to get inside and then just greeted delegates and left before the meeting was called to order.
Most of the Masvingo Provincial executive is understood to be aligned to another faction going by the name Lacoste which is believed to be behind Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
"They left because their faction is on the receiving end especially after President Mugabe tore into Kasukuwere one of the G40 leaders for selling stands to Magaya.
"They had no option except to sneak out without apologising," said a provincial member who could not be identified for fear of reprisals.
First to leave was Shumba before the delegates sat down and Jaboon followed just after the singing of the national anthem before the introductions.
Jaboon's mobile number was not being answered.
"I had to rush to prepare for the Parliamentary Portifolio Committee on Mines which I happen to chair and had a meeting at the Civic Centre.
"Jaboon is also part of that committee. I only went to Flamboyant because all members of the committee were booked there. I did not run away from the meeting and I don't belong to any faction, I support President Mugabe," said Shumba on the phone.
Meanwhile, Josaya Hungwe a politiburo member and Government Minister took to the podium soon after introductions and went for more than an hour telling delegates that he was the most senior in the province.
"There is one thing that I want to tell you from today onwards, there are only three people in the province who matter, the secretary for administration (AeliusBaloyi believed to be a Lacoste member), the provincial chairman and your Minister Mahofa.
"You should never hold a meeting in the province without the knowledge of the two who in turn report to the Minister.
"Nobody and I mean nobody should report to me because I don't run the province, it is your Minister, my job is to oversee what is happening I don't want daily reports because my duty is to supervise the province's activities as the most senior.
"There is no one of my age in this room, I am the most senior and most of you are my grandchildren or children," thundered Hungwe exerting his faction's authority.
