    NAPH netball team wins gold at COSASA games


    - National Association of Primary Heads (NAPH) netball team has won gold at the Confederation of School Sports Association of Southern Africa (COSSASA) games held in Gaborone, Botswana last week.
     The team which had four players from Masvingo province, Nyasha Govere, Vimbai Ndlera, Renia Mavamba, and Marline Magodhi were central to the team's performance in winning gold.
    The netball team beat Lesotho 40-17, Botswana 29-22 and Namibia 24-17 in a round robin tournament to be crowned regional champions.
    Marline Magodhi was the best shooter of the tournament with 73 goals out of the 83 scored by team Zimbabwe.
    "As NAPH Masvingo we are pleased to be the forces behind team Zimbabwe's success as we welcome our heroes back home," said Patrick Mashapa Masvingo NAPH chairperson.
    Masvingo province also had two of its best soccer players McDonald Tawanda defender and Ejineki (Maribha) Mukwauri, a striker who participated in a soccer and were instrumental in the team winning bronze.
    "The teams performed exceptionally well and as the coach I am naturally happy to have nurtured these great sports ambassadors," said Joseph Chirasha from Paradza Primary School in Chivi is the netball team head coach.
    Officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education who spoke at the welcoming ceremony said they were pleased with the players' performance at the games.
