    Masvingo duo shines at ZOU Vice Chancellor’s games


    – Patience Ngubo (31) and Tatenda Zawaira (30) from Masvingo shone at the just ended fourth edition of the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) Vice Chancellor's games in Bulawayo held at White City Stadium.
    Of the 12 medal haul by Masvingo Region the duo had five between them.
    Ngubo scooped three medals, bronze in the 200m, silver in the 4x100m race and gold in the 400m while Zawaira got silver in tennis double competitions and bronze in the tennis single category.
    Masvingo Region had 60 students who participated at the prestigious event that was graced by the ZOU Vice Chancellor, Professor Primrose Kurasha.
    The students competed in sporting disciplines like soccer, table tennis, pool, darts, chess, basketball, volleyball and netball.
    Bulawayo the hosts emerged the best team with 15 medals, 10 gold three silver and two bronze followed by Harare with seven gold, seven silver and three bronze while the Midlands were on third position with three gold, one silver and nine bronze.
    Last year's games were hosted by the Midlands Region.
     Senior Advisor in student Affairs department of ZOU Professor Patrick Chadamoyo said "The Vice Chancellor's games are a practical demonstration of the development of the whole body.
    "Although we are a distance education institution we have space for creating opportunities for our students to excel in sports''.
    Ngubo and Zawaira paid tribute to the Vice Chancellor for affording them the opportunity to showcase their talents.
