    Marriage crumbles over church argument

    KWEKWE -
A 23-year-old marriage solemnised under chapter 5:11 of Marriages Act has gone up in smoke after the husband tried to impose the church of his choice on his wife and children.
Although there were already problems in the marriage, the final straw came when the husband wanted everyone to go with him to the church he attends.
Juliet Matangira dragged ex-husband Timothy Matangira before Kwekwe magistrate Vimbai Mutukwa pleading for a protection order against him because he was harassing her and their children to go to a church they didn't want to go to.
The two are no longer living together but Timothy was forcing his wife and children to go to Johane Marange hence disturbing peace at home.
Timothy told the court that they had lived happily when they were going to Johane Marange but when her wife decided otherwise the problems began at home.
He then proceeded into living with another wife at their plot.
"As a father and husband there are certain things that you expect your family to follow like going to your church.
"And when your wife disrespects you, you are left with no choice. I am actually living with another wife simply because she abides by my rules," said Timothy.
Juliet told the court that he is in the habit of coming to the matrimonial house harassing the children and forcing them to go to Johane Marange church.
Mutukwa however advised both parties that neither the husband nor wife have executive rights of taking the children to their church.
She then granted them both orders that the wife should not go to the husband and the husband should not visit to harass the wife.
Timothy told the court he was giving up on his family as they all do not want to listen to him.
