    - Chikomba Rural District Council has begun 2016 preliminary budget consultations to identify residents' needs in accordance with the Rural District Council Act which guides that all stakeholders must be consulted before any budget is submitted to the Minister for approval.
The consultations started on August 22 in Chikomba East and Central where sectors including education, business, churches and members of residents' and rate payers associations were consulted.
Chikomba RDC CEO Luckson Mutara confirmed the development. He said the council would also engage the disabled.
He said they begun preliminary budget consultations so that they identify all the needs of residents and do costings on their needs and later consult them on priorities in accordance with the population and the money they generate.
"We are in the preliminary stages of budget consultations where residents identify all their needs and we conduct costing of their needs and we then later go back to them for their list of priorities in accordance with the money council generates," he said.
Early last week, the consultation committee did consultations in Chikomba West in wards 1, 2, 3, 7 and 8. On Friday, the committee met the business community. On August 30, the committee will meet ward 11 residents.
Mutara said they expect to start actual consultations on September 12, this year.
