    Chief Nerupiri in court after dogs maul minor to death


    - Edward Nhemachena(68) who resides in Chademunhu farm in Masvingo known as Chief Nerupiri appeared before magistrate Collet Ncube last week facing culpable homicide after his seven dogs attacked a six year old boy to death.
    The complainant is Elizabeth Zvokuwomba (26) who resides at Druton farm, and is the mother of the deceased Praise Mavhiringidze (6).
    It is the State case that on November 17, 2014 around 6am Mavhiringidze was on his way to school when he met seven unaccompanied dogs which attacked him and he died on the spot.
    The dogs ate his scalp, back of the neck, both lower and upper limbs.
    Oliver Matanda (64) and Leonard Matanda (71) who were looking for their cattle saw the dogs feeding on the body of deceased suspected that the dogs were eating their calf so they drew closer and discovered that they were actually feeding on the body of a boy. Oliver Matanda informed the police and the mother of the deceased.
    The body of the deceased was taken to Masvingo General Hospital for a post mortem which revealed that the cause of the death was due to severe multiple wounds and severe head injuries due to dog bites.
    Jessy Chademana who was one of the witnesses told the court that since the dogs ran away they went to search for a homestead which had dogs and they found them at Nhemachena's place.
    The case will continue on September 28, 2016 as the court will call the Zimbabwe Republic Police investigating officer and the medical doctor as witnesses.
