A total of 652 boys and men will graduate after successfully undergoing a male circumcision program in Headman Masivamele`s area under Chief Sengwe this Thursday.
Muzamani Papazela who is Headman Masivamele confirmed the development and said the event will be held at Masivamele Primary School where the initiates who are still in the bush will graduate. He said the initiation is held once after 5 years in his area and the current program was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Child Care as well as other non-governmental organisations and medical doctors conducted the circumcision process.
According to World Health Organisation male circumcision reduces the risk of contracting HIV and AIDS through sexual contact by 60 percent. Zimbabwe has done well in preventing the scourge through a number of interventions with male circumcision proving popular among tribes like Shangaan, Varemba, Venda and Xhosa. health news
