600 expected at Catholic Couples Congress

    – Masvingo Catholic Diocese will host this year's National Catholic Couples Association (NCCA) Annual Congress for the first time.
This was announced at a Mass held at Gokomere last week.
The congress will be held at St Don Bosco Parish in Mucheke on from September 23-25, 2016.
The opening mass will be led by Bishop Michael Bhasera.
The NCCA is a Christian based couples' fellowship which holds its annual congress every year during the last weekend of September which coincides with social communications. The dioceses host the congress on a rotational basis and next year it will be hosted by Mutare.
The aim is to promote social, economic and spiritual interests of its members through learning building friendships, mitigating against all social ills while promoting marriages, weddings and a Eucharist community.
Masvingo Catholic Diocese spokesperson Father Walter Nyatsanza confirmed the event in telephone interview with The Mirror.
"Yes we are going to host the congress in Masvingo for the first time in history.
"We are as a diocese organising this event for the first time and we  encourage especially young couples to come in big numbers to share their vows and get experience from others,'' said Fr Nyastanza.
The theme: Happy and Prudent Family Lives a Happy Life."Mhuri ine hutano uye yakangwara inorarama upenyu hunofadza".
Five hundred people are expected to attend and some of the topics to be discussed are: "The family and evangelisation" by His Lordship Bishop Xavier Munyongani.
''Last year the 10th NCCA Congress was hosted by Chinhoyi diocese at St Nyamhunga in Kariba. The suggested venue for the congress is St Don Bosco Parish, Mucheke.
''As the host Diocese, Masvingo will provide food to the participants. Some of the participants will be accommodated by the Masvingo urban couples, while those who can afford will be booked in the lodges and hotels at their cost.
In Kariba we had 350 couples and we estimate that this year, though there are economic hardships, the numbers may increase to 600 couples,''said Peter Mhere National Chairperson.local news
